One of the most versatile artists in the Cameroon music scene and history Ko-c with the pseudonym “Serial hitmaker” is about to thrill the African continent with his first body of work, a debut album dubbed “GENESIS” Probably the artist marks that as the very start on the goal of global domination as long as the music is the topic.
His musical journey has been quite a fascinating one, every record ever dropped was either a hit song or had the potential of becoming one, reason why he stands out when grading or scaling artists of the new school generation in Cameroon music history.
Starting as a rapper, one of the fastest at that, a paradigm shift to Afro-Pop, and then the face of Bikutsi at some point: exceptionally delivering on all genres should tell you a lot what his artistry. One school of thought has it he might catch up in between genres and try to place his finger on what might work for him, however, another school of thought rather sees him as multi-talented and versatile in making music.
Looking back at his discography and success in establishing a name and fetching some fame should remind you about his relevance and consistency even while excelling on all the aforementioned genres. Having built his career around these we hoping for a well-rounded album with some international presence.
We are speculating these artists might feature on the album and here’s WHY!
When Ko-c debuted his music career specifically as a ” tongue Twister”, “fast rapper”, ” speed rap” or the widely preferred labeling “Chopping” the style of rap he did. The public had always perceived him as a rip-off from the most decorated rapper in Africa of Ghanaian origin Sarkodie. Was it just an allusion? but their flow style was identical and music lovers could bring out a similitude either backed by being a copycat or inspired by more or less.
Well at some point both rappers are connected to making music, the moment when you come across someone who represents your craft, with a slight resemblance or some extra flair to it, collaboration is inevitable at least that’s a new form of competition. History holds it there was a song in the pipeline and might eventually materialize and see the light on this album.
For that which concerns Falz, Ko-c had visited Nigeria sometime back in 2021 and some BTS videos and pictures surfaced the media on the Instagram handle of an Entertainment company which is a Consulting Agency called LONGITUDE PROMOTION in charge of artist management, concerts events, media tours, branding, music distribution and promotion in Nigeria, their IG handle revealed its the same Entertainment Agency handling everything that concerns the musical career of yet another vibrant artist in Nigeria by name Victor Ad who was discovered in 2018 by them. In this case, the agency manages both artists as for as music distribution is concerned there’s a possibility they both have a song waiting to be released.
More to that videos of both artists popped up during studio sessions making music and of course a Facebook live session on the 4th of May 2020 which came to seal their artistic connection on a personal level.
Still, in 2021, Ko-c made some international moves by going over to Congo for a show and a connect with some key Industry stakeholders back there, for the kind of artist of his charisma and strategic moves soliciting a collaboration with one of the finest at that time and presently INNOSS’ B will have been easy speculation. Considering Ko-c has the numbers: both in music streams and social media following that could serve as a clickbait to fetch him collaborations while taking into consideration both artists have this peculiar energy, lifestyle, and brand image as far as their music brand is concerned.
As earlier highlighted, a well-rounded album means touching all the corners of African music which makes waves in the 21st Century as well staying in the same career artistic direction and creative decision of his arts which is Rap and Afro Pop. One thing we are anticipating is Ko-c’s album Genesis will project his versatility as both a Rapper and Singer which will be a major step to global recognition and possible integration.
For a fact, he has what it takes to make it big and shut down shows in the international music scene.
